COVID-19 DISTURBANCE
BACKGROUND
The shock caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has had considerable impacts on Ghanaian businesses, forcing many firms to cut costs by reducing staff hours, cutting wages, and in some cases laying off workers.
This is according to results from a new COVID-19 Business Tracker Survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the World Bank. The results show that about 770,000 workers (25.7% of the total workforce), had their wages reduced and about 42,000 employees were laid off during the country’s COVID-19 partial lockdown. The pandemic also led to reduction in working hours for close to 700,000 workers.
The country’s COVID-19 partial lockdown, businesses received shocks in supply and demand for goods and services. Close to 131,000 businesses had challenges accessing finance and expressed uncertainty in business environment.
ABOUT ME AND THE EXPERIENCE
Coronavirus (COVID-19) had a lot of negative effect on a firm a worked with as a part-time worker. Our contractors could no longer award contract to us due to the COVID-19 situation. The company therefore laid off workers and that also brought a lot of burdens on some families.

THE PLAN FOR THE WORK
Deliberating on my concept, I needed a character who would best fit my idea. I decided to work with Jude Oboubi, a Radford Fashion student who could best describe my character. I consulted him and we brain-stormed on the idea. He understood the concept and he was ready to work with me. Few sketches and photo concepts from Ronen Goldman were shown to him.

THE TITLE FOR MY PROJECT IS
THE DARK WORLD
THE DARK WORLD
The photo concept talks about a young gentleman who has just lost his job due to the coronavirus. He walks on the street very disturbed and do not realize what is going on around him. He is thinking about what his family will leave on. He sees the world not to be fair and at that movement he sees the world has almost ended.
