Problem Identification
PROJECT You are to create a simple poster advertising Ghana. Either tourism or culture or art or sports or whatever. Make it awesome that people will want to see Ghana. But remember to do things that will make people wish to be here. Football might not do that well for example.
*Use maximum 3 fonts.
Research
The Empire of Ghana was located in Western Africa in what is today the countries of Mauritania, Senegal, and Mali. The region lies just south of the Sahara Desert and is mostly savanna grasslands. Major rivers in the region such as the Gambia River, Senegal River, and the Niger River served as the means of transportation and trade.
The capital city of Ancient Ghana was Koumbi Saleh. This is where the King of Ghana lived in his royal palace. Archeologists estimate that up to 20,000 people lived in and around the capital city.
The main source of wealth for the Empire of Ghana was the mining of iron and gold. Iron was used to produce strong weapons and tools that made the empire strong. Gold was used to trade with other nations for needed resources like livestock, tools, and cloth. They established trade relations with the Muslims of Northern Africa and the Middle East. Long caravans of camels were used to transport goods across the Sahara Desert.
The population of Ghana is incredibly diverse, and the government of modern Ghana recognises many national languages. Two of the most widespread are the Twi language of the Ashanti people, which is spoken in the southern and central regions, and the Dagbani language of the Dagomba people, spoken by people in areas to the north.
No Ghanaian culture historically used traditional forms of writing, and they kept their languages alive through oral traditions. However, the Akan people did use a form of symbolic depiction known as Adinkra. These designs represent complex concepts, like proverbs and overarching theories, rather than single words.
They were used on everything from fabrics, jewellery, and pottery, to walls, architectural elements, and on the weights used in trading gold. Personal and home accessories, as well as clothing, incorporating these symbols, can be purchased from Ghana’s many artisans.
IDEATION
Ideation is the formation of ideas or concepts.
Brainstorming
During a Brainstorm session, you influence the collaboration to reach new ideas by building on others’ ideas. Ideas are blended to create one good idea. Ideas should be considered freely without fear of criticism. You should create an environment where all participants embrace wild ideas and misunderstanding, and which will allow you to reach further than you could by simply thinking logically about a problem.
During the Brainstorming session for my poster(GHANA IS RICH), my research shown
That Ghana has a lot of natural resources including the vegetation and also rich in the culture. Ghana has a lot of tourist centres that helps in booming the economy.
Design Elements: Images (pictures of our natural resources), text, shapes or symbols, logos.
Colour Conceptualization: Colours that depicts Ghana (Red, Yellow and Green) and its natural resources. I propose yellow for the background depicting the wealth of Ghana.
Number of fonts: 2
Page Orientation: Portrait
Ideation Technique
One of the ideation techniques that helped in my execution was sketching. I made different layout sketches or thumbnails on paper to get the clear idea of what my final work will look like. Next slide shows my layout sketches.

Appreciation
The fonts used are Comic Sans MS and Arial for readability and eligibility.
One principle I applied in my execution was Gestalt Theory of continuation for example the colours of ‘RICH’ and ‘IN CULTURE, NATURAL RESOURCES, HOSPITALITY & TOURISM have common colour (Green).
Some of the tourist centres and minerals in Ghana are arrange at the down part of the design layout. Two girls exhibiting our the cultural dance of Ghana (Adowa and Agbadza)
The bottom of the page bares the supporters of the the poster or event. Yellow colour is used to depict the wealth of the nation.
